    Hi Paul
Having fished these ponds for more years than i can remember i have found bread punch and liquidised bread works well on the bottom pond also sorts out the larger fish in the top pond. The eels are well worth targeting in the bottom pond too best pegs are the 2 corner pegs on the factory bank. Also in warmer months try the hemp and tare approach this is really productive.

    Hi Paul,

I have tried to find this place before and struggled. Could you tell me where is the best place to park and how you actually get to the venue.

    Cheers,
    Simon.

  3. Hi Simon, check out the direction and locations tab at the top of the page. Clayton is listed on there. Hope it helps. Any other questions please let me know.

  4. Hi Paul,
I've just had a session on the lower lake for the first time and have to say what a hidden gem. More through luck than judgement I started fishing maggot at two and a half foot and had my first take within seconds. Rudd, roach, perch and a skimmer bream followed. Although mostly small fish there were a good number of a decent size.
Your blog has been invaluable for someone like myself who has taken up fishing again after a break of 30 years. Living in Burley the information on my local waters has been so useful.
    Cheers Paul!

Thanks for that. They are a great pair of lakes that are sadly over looked in favour of the bigger and well known commercials. There are some good fish in both lakes too, they just need coaxing out. Dog biscuits on the surface work well in the heat, so you might want to give them a go if you fancy tackling something a bit larger. Thanks for leaving the comment though, glad people like yourself find the info useful. If you have any questions about the lakes or any other fisheries around Burley please ask away. Plenty of fish in the canal too if you know where to look.

i used to fish these ponds a good few year ago. recently returned to find the ponds are now just a rubbish site from people who have no respect for the fish or other anglers, also heard comments from other anglers saying a lot of polish have taken carp out of the top lake and returned them to the bottom lake. yes the ponds are still free fishing as to my knowledge but that's no excuse to do as you please.
